The questions we get most often about Pure Ulva, the raw material, and the documentation.
What is Pure Ulva?
Pure Ulva is sea lettuce (Ulva fenestrata) in capsule form. Each bottle holds 90 capsules of 625 mg dried sea lettuce each, and nothing else. The recommended daily dose is three capsules, so one bottle lasts 30 days.
What is sea lettuce?
Sea lettuce is a green macroalga that grows naturally along coastlines in large parts of the world, and it has been eaten for thousands of years. The species we use is Ulva fenestrata. It was previously classified as Ulva lactuca, but was reclassified after DNA analyses published in 2019.
Where does the raw material come from?
The sea lettuce is cultivated at sea by Nordic SeaFarm in Bohuslän on Sweden's west coast, in cold, clean water. It is farmed, not wild-harvested, and every batch is tied to a site and a date. After harvest it is rinsed, gently dried, and milled into a fine powder.
What is in the capsules?
Dried sea lettuce, 625 mg per capsule, and a capsule shell made of HPMC, a plant-based cellulose. No fillers, no colourants, no other additives.
Is Pure Ulva vegan?
Yes. Both the contents and the capsule shell are plant-based. The product is also gluten-free and GMO-free.
Does Pure Ulva contain allergens?
Pure Ulva contains none of the 14 allergens that require labelling in the EU. Since the sea lettuce is cultivated at sea, it may still contain traces of fish, crustaceans, or molluscs.
How do I use Pure Ulva?
Take three capsules daily with water, with or without food. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet.
What about heavy metals? Is seaweed safe?
This matters for every seaweed product, and it is why we test every single batch at Eurofins, an independent accredited laboratory. The analyses cover cadmium, lead, mercury, and arsenic among others, and the values are well within the EU limits. The Certificate of Analysis for your batch is available on request.
How much iodine does Pure Ulva contain?
Sea lettuce naturally contains iodine, but considerably less than brown algae such as kelp. The iodine content is measured for every batch and stated on the label and in the Certificate of Analysis. The daily dose stays well below the upper safe intake level EFSA has set for adults.
Who should be careful?
If you have a thyroid condition or follow an iodine-restricted diet, consult your doctor before use. The same applies during pregnancy and breastfeeding, due to the iodine content. Keep out of reach of young children.
What is a Certificate of Analysis (COA)?
A Certificate of Analysis is the laboratory's documentation of one specific batch: nutritional content, heavy metals, and microbiology. Every bottle is marked with a batch code. Send us the batch code at contact@terralgea.com and you will receive the certificate for your batch.
How long does the product keep?
The shelf life is 48 months from the production date, and the best-before date is printed on the bottle. Store it dry and cool, away from direct sunlight.
Where do you deliver?
The web shop currently delivers in Norway only. Retailers and partners in other markets are handled as B2B; see our partner page.
Can I return my order?
Yes, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day you receive the goods. For reasons of health protection, the right applies only while the seal on the bottle is unbroken. See the terms of sale for details.
